About the Practice

Desjardins Osteopathy was established in 2026 after more than a decade of experience and growth as a practitioner. After 10 years of practicing osteopathy and developing her approach to patient care, Danya decided it was time to create a practice of her own where she could offer personalized care in a setting designed to support comfort and relaxation.

Located within her home, the clinic was thoughtfully created to provide a warm and welcoming environment for patients. Surrounded by a wooded landscape, the space reflects a calm and natural atmosphere where patients can feel at ease during their treatments. The intention is to offer a quiet setting that supports the thoughtful, whole-body approach that guides osteopathic care.

Meet Danya

Danya Desjardins’ path to osteopathy began through her work as a Registered Nurse in home care. After graduating from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she spent several years working closely with patients in their homes. During this time, she developed a growing interest in understanding how the body adapts to injury, strain, and long-standing patterns of discomfort.

Wanting to learn new ways to support the body’s ability to recover and function well, Danya began studying Traditional Osteopathy in 2012 at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Through this training, she was drawn to the osteopathic philosophy of viewing the body as an interconnected system and using gentle hands-on techniques to help restore balance and improve mobility.

She completed her osteopathic training in 2018 and has continued to refine her approach through years of clinical experience. Her treatments focus on careful assessment and thoughtful care, with each session guided by what the body presents at that moment.

In 2020, Danya expanded her practice by completing training in Neurological Myofascial Release for Animals and now offers manual treatment for both small and large animals.

Born and raised in Timmins, Danya feels strongly connected to her community and is proud to offer care that supports the health and well-being of the people who live here.

Danya enjoys working with patients of all ages and believes in creating a calm and welcoming environment where people feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their care.

What is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to health that focuses on how the body moves and functions as a whole. Rather than looking at one area in isolation, osteopathy considers how different parts of the body work together and how restrictions in one area may influence another.

What happens during treatment?

An osteopathic practitioner will:

• Assess posture and body alignment
• Observe how different parts of the body move
• Use gentle hands-on techniques to release areas of tension or restriction
• Help support the body’s natural ability to adapt and function well

In simple terms…

Osteopathy helps the body move better so it can function better. Sometimes the body just needs a little help remembering how to move the way it was designed to.
